# Student Activity Score

The student activity score marts are based on Indiana University's Student Activity Score, developed by Matthew Rust, Joshua Quick, and Benjamin Motz. The student activity score is a metric based on student activity in the LMS, and can be used to predict the final outcomes and persistence of students. A study exploring the predictive ability of this metric, coauthored by Matthew Rust and Benjamin Motz, can be found [here](https://osf.io/preprints/edarxiv/sjw2b).

The student activity score marts include both *student\_activity\_score* and *student\_activity\_score\_rolling* marts. These marts include the same metrics, but differ with regards to the time window in scope. The *student\_activity\_score* marts define the metrics for every week in a course, Sunday to Saturday. The *student\_activity\_score\_rolling* marts define the metrics for a 7-day rolling window for each day in the course. This means that for a given week in a course, the *student\_activity\_score* mart will define a single record for each student, while *student\_activity\_score\_rolling* will define 7 records for each student, one for each day in the week.
