## Key Features

### Cost Optimizations

As the UDP Marts have grown and evolved over the years, so have the costs of maintaining them. This is expected as more data is generated in each tenant's UDP instance each day. We are introducing two cost optimizations for UDP Marts: one visible to users and one visible only to Unizin for deployment.

The visible change involves the time frame for the Caliper-dependent portion of the marts. Originally, all marts pulled Caliper data from Jan 1, 2021, to the current date. Moving forward, we will pull the latest 3 full academic years of Caliper data. We anchor the start of academic years in the Fall term, so the starting date for new academic years in UDP Marts terms is August 1st. Starting now, the Caliper event portion of marts will pull data from August 1, 2023, to the current date. When August 1, 2027, comes around next year, the new starting date for Caliper events in marts will be August 1, 2024. This is not a rolling window; until August 1, 2027, there will always be Caliper data back to August 1, 2023.

**Note: this only affects UDP Marts. This does not affect the UDP's native event\_store. No source data has been removed from the UDP.**

The second optimization is only for Unizin staff for releases. We introduce logic to indicate which starter scripts need to run for releases. The starter scripts are one-time, large queries that repopulate a mart with historic Caliper data. During releases, we run these once, then enable the daily or hourly append/update scripts, which are much smaller. Previously, every starter script ran regardless of whether relevant changes were made. Now, we can identify the exact starters that need to run, and only those get executed during releases.

### CSU Global Support

We now support a tenant for CSU Global in addition to Colorado State's existing instance. The data will remain separate from this new tenant and the existing Colorado State UDP instance.

### Taskforce Mart Updates

Two main improvements are coming to the Taskforce marts. First, the starting day for each week is now configurable. Tenants are no longer bound to Sunday-to-Saturday default weeks. If you'd like a different starting date for your taskforce mart weeks, please reach out to us at <support@unizin.org>.

Second, we introduce logic to assign weights to assignments in courses that do have defined weights for any of their assignments. Previously, if a course did not have defined weights for any of their assignment groups, all of the assignments in the course would just be defined as 'unweighted.' Now, we look at the proportion of total points each assignment group carries to the total points in a course. Then, each assignment is labeled as tiny, small, medium, large, or major according to the thresholds in the Taskforce mart documentation.
